Why Brands Trust RubeeFlex for Recyclable Packaging
Switching to recyclable packaging prompts questions for buyers: will the material hold up on the shelf, and will the finished pouch look and feel like what they are used to?
RubeeFlex has produced over 65 million bags in a wide range of pouch formats, and that experience carries into recyclable production.
Recycling claims you can stand behind. RubeeFlex recyclable pouches are designed for store drop-off PE recycling streams.

Industries Making the Switch to Recyclable Stand-up Pouches
Brands across multiple industries are sourcing OEM recyclable stand-up pouches as sustainability moves from preference to requirement, including.

Food and beverage
Major grocery retailers are setting recyclable packaging targets for suppliers. Snack, coffee, tea, and dry goods brands are among the first to transition.

Pet food and treats
Pet owners increasingly check packaging claims. Recyclable pouches for kibble, treats, and supplements signal that a brand takes sustainability as seriously as product quality.

Nutraceuticals and supplements
Health-conscious buyers expect the brands they trust to extend that care to packaging. Protein powders, vitamins, and greens are natural fits for recyclable pouches.

Personal care and beauty
Refill pouches for bath scrubs and liquid products are a growing category for recyclable materials.

Household chemicals
Detergents and cleaning agents in flexible pouches already use less plastic than rigid bottles. Recyclable PE is an extra step towards a healthier environment.

Lawn, garden, and plant care
Seeds, fertilizers, and plant food are moving into recyclable pouches, which protect against moisture and light while cutting packaging waste.
What Makes a Stand-Up Pouch Recyclable
Traditional stand-up pouches use layers of different plastics bonded together. These mixed-material laminates cannot be separated at recycling facilities, so they remain in the waste stream.
Recyclable stand-up pouches solve this by using a single polymer type in the pouch structure. RubeeFlex’s recyclable pouches are built from mono-material PE (polyethylene), and every layer, including the barrier coating, is the same polymer family. This makes the pouch suitable for disposal at PE recycling streams.
In practice, recyclable pouches are accepted through store drop-off programs for flexible plastics (the same bins used for plastic bags at some grocery retailers). Curbside recycling programs do not yet widely accept flexible film packaging, so store drop-off is currently the most common recycling method for these pouches.
Brands can communicate the recycling options clearly to customers with on-pack labeling.
Recyclable Stand-Up Pouch FAQs
It depends on the material. Traditional multi-layer pouches are not recyclable because recycling facilities cannot separate the bonded layers. Mono-material PE pouches, like those produced by RubeeFlex, are recyclable through store drop-off programs for flexible plastics.
Mono-material PE is a pouch structure made entirely from polyethylene. Because every layer uses the same polymer, the pouch can be recycled as a single material stream. Traditional pouches mix PET, nylon, and PE layers that cannot be separated after bonding.
Yes. Mono-material PE with barrier coatings provide oxygen and moisture protection comparable to traditional multi-layer structures. Shelf life for most dry goods, snacks, and supplements is equivalent as well.
Yes. RubeeFlex prints recyclable stand-up pouches using digital and gravure methods, with full-color graphics, matte or gloss finishes, and spot coatings.
Yes. RubeeFlex produces recyclable spouted stand-up pouches for liquids and semi-liquids. The spout fitment and pouch body can be specified in compatible materials for recycling.
Recyclable and compostable packaging serve different goals. Recyclable pouches re-enter the material supply chain as recycled PE. Compostable pouches break down in industrial composting facilities. The right choice depends on your retailer requirements, and the waste options available to your end consumer. RubeeFlex also produces compostable and biodegradable pouches.
